I have always believed that everyone has a unique story to tell, and I feel it is my responsibility to share my own story in order to create awareness and bring about change. My blog began as a space for me to comprehend my life and jot down things that I couldn’t explain. I also wanted to broaden the understanding of the people around me through my writing.
Living in this world, it often feels like you are always alone because people may not understand what you are going through. However, it is not always possible to explain it to them. That’s why writing down my memories and stories is so important to me. This way, they will always be there, and I will always have a memory of them. Additionally, I believe that they could help someone one day.
“All the noise in my brain. I clamp it to the page so it will be still.”
Barbara Kingsolver.
Everyone has a dream, but often these dreams seem unrealistic and unattainable. People grow up with dreams that they sometimes don’t intend to work towards. For instance, some people might say, “Oh, I dream of writing a book someday,” but never actually take the necessary steps to make it happen. I used to be like that until a friend of mine wrote her book and inspired me to finally take action. At first, I was hesitant and thought about all the reasons why I shouldn’t. I’m a logical person, so I made a list of the pros and cons to understand how this could affect my life and the people involved in the story too.
In the end, I made the decision to go ahead with my book. However, I took an interesting approach to writing it; despite being someone who shares their story with the public and advocates for change, I decided not to tell anyone about the book until it was near completion. I know it might seem unusual, but I wanted to have full control over this project and make it mine entirely.
The Experience Of Writing A Memoir
I’m definitely no expert when it comes to writing a book, let alone how to even start. My dream would not have been possible without my publishing team, whom I was lucky enough to find. They made me feel like family and created a comfortable environment where I could be heard and truly listened to. They believed in my story and were confident that people would be interested in the story we were going to share.
I understand that it’s my first attempt at writing a book, and therefore, I was not aware of the process. Nonetheless, it was very therapeutic for me, as it allowed me to put my thoughts into words. However, we had to take those words and turn them into a story with a dynamic plot that readers could understand. This process required a lot of depth and various elements that I had not considered before. Nevertheless, it was a creative and dynamic process that led to an interesting end product.
One of the hardest things about writing a book is that it requires you to share your life, stories, and deepest thoughts with the world, which can be a scary thing. When you put your thoughts out there, you open yourself up to criticism. However, I have decided to focus on the reason why I wrote the book in the first place, which was to share my story and shape perspectives. I never intended to come across as an expert on living with a disability or disease. This is purely my perspective and my story.
The Aim
I have just finished writing a story about my life, and it brought up a lot of emotions. While I had to relive some hard times, I also got to remember the good times, the memories we’ve had as a family, the people I have met, and the adventures I’ve been on. Writing this story was an emotional journey, and I hope that people who read it can feel the same emotions I felt.
The book I’ve written has a lot of light-hearted moments and humor. This reflects the way I’ve lived my life, especially during difficult times. However, there are some serious and emotional sections that I felt were important to include. I didn’t want to sugarcoat the tough times, but instead present a realistic and representative account of my life. My goal was to create a dynamic and entertaining book. To inform people of the struggles I’ve been through. My intention was not to provide a manual on how to overcome problems, but rather to inspire readers to believe in themselves. The aim was to show that anything is possible with self-belief and determination.
I don’t intend to make people sad; instead, I want to inspire hope and positivity. I want readers to feel what I was feeling in those situations and find encouragement and inspiration in my story.
