Is Your Life Going According to Plan?

Be honest with yourself…
Is your life going completely to plan?

If you’re in your late 20s or standing on the edge of 30, chances are the answer is no.

And not just a gentle “no.”
A confusing, overwhelming, this looks nothing like I imagined kind of no.

Because this phase of life comes with so many expectations.
The ones we put on ourselves.
The ones society quietly whispers.
And the ones we feel like we’re constantly trying to live up to.

We thought we’d have it figured out by now.
A clear plan. A clear future. A clear direction.

But instead, we’re here…
Trying our best.
Figuring it out as we go.
And wondering why it feels so different to what we imagined 10 years ago.

Two Versions of the Future

I’ve realised something about life — sometimes it doesn’t just go “off plan”…
Sometimes it gives you two completely different versions of what you thought your life would be.

For me, there was a time where I didn’t even know if I would make it this far.
Where the idea of a future felt uncertain in a completely different way.

And yet here I am.

With a full-time job.
A boyfriend.
A family who loves me deeply.
Friends I get to see and do life with.

A life that, in so many ways, I didn’t expect to have.

But at the same time…
There’s another version of the “plan,” isn’t there?

The one where by now you thought you’d be married.
Living independently.
Having everything mapped out — stable, certain, secure.

And when you hold those two versions side by side, it can feel confusing.

Grateful… but unsure.
Happy… but still questioning.
Proud… but wondering, what now?

When Life Doesn’t Go to Plan

I’ve had many moments where life didn’t go according to plan.

Moments where things felt uncertain.
Moments where I had to adjust, adapt, and accept a reality I didn’t choose.

And I’ve come to believe this:

Maybe life isn’t about everything going to plan.
Maybe it’s about teaching you how to handle it when it doesn’t.

Because that’s where the growth happens.
That’s where the resilience is built.
That’s where you learn who you are — beyond the plan.

Everything Happens for a Reason… Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason.

Not in a cliché, “everything is perfect” kind of way…
But in a deeper, quieter way.

The kind where you don’t always understand it in the moment.
Where things feel messy and unclear.
Where you question why this, why now, why me?

But somehow, over time, something shifts.

You grow.
You adapt.
You find strength you didn’t know you had.

And you start to realise — maybe you were only ever given what you could handle…
Even if it didn’t feel like it at the time.

Redefining What “Normal” Looks Like

I think one of the hardest parts about this stage of life is letting go of what we thought “normal” would look like.

Because the truth is — it doesn’t look the same anymore.

Not for me.
Not for you.
Not for most of us.

And maybe… that’s not a bad thing.

Maybe there’s beauty in creating your own version of normal.
In letting go of timelines that don’t fit your life.
In accepting that your journey doesn’t have to mirror anyone else’s to be meaningful.

Maybe it’s okay to not have everything figured out.
Maybe it’s okay that your future feels uncertain.
Maybe it’s okay that your life looks different.

So… Is Your Life Going to Plan?

If the answer is no — you’re not alone.

But maybe that’s not the question we should be asking.

Maybe instead, we should ask:

  • What is this season teaching me?
  • How am I growing through this?
  • What if my life isn’t off track… just unfolding differently?

Because your life doesn’t have to go according to plan to be beautiful.

Sometimes, the life you didn’t plan…
Becomes the one that shapes you the most.

And maybe, just maybe —
There’s something incredibly powerful about learning to find peace in your own version of “normal.”
