Hope is a word that we all know and understand but it is not necessarily a concept that we all use every day. I hope for change with creating accessibility in our country, I hope for a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, I hope for acceptance and kindness for all people in the world and I hope for the opportunity to live a full life. Having hope is like having a dream but knowing that it could be possible and believing in the opportunity of creating it. I recently experienced a hard couple of weeks where finding my feet seemed impossible but I understand who I am as a person and giving up isn’t an option. So where do you find your inner strength or your ability to know that you can keep going?
I have always had a strong belief in that there is hope for the future, hope for change. You need to be able to believe in a greater future to be able to push through. I often find it strange that nothing specific has to happen for your body to tell you that you need a break. The saying that you can’t pour from an empty cup is so true. You can’t keep giving if you don’t have anything left to give. You have to allow your body to rejuvenate and give your body time to heal. I have never been good at resting or allowing my body to recover. However, I have come to realize that your body is going to tell you what it needs if you are willing to listen or not. Your body needs time and it needs to relax.
I attended an event where a lady spoke about hope. Having hope got her through the most difficult time in her life. This speech happened at a very poignant time in my life. I needed hope and a kick in the *** and she needed to share her story of hope. Everybody needs something to look forward to and something to strive for. I know what I want to achieve in my life and I don’t plan to stop until I achieve it.
Our lives are filled with so many beautiful opportunities and moments that we often take for granted. I feel that we need to slow down and enjoy the moments that we have. We need to stop constantly planning for the future. I understand that planning is important! Take it from a control freak and excessive planner like me but it is difficult to not create plans. We are missing out on so many moments because we are so busy planning future moments. I want to live a life of adventure and creativity that is full of laughs and loved ones.
There is so much going on in the world and our lives. It is important to remember that there is always hope and beautiful things to come in our future!
